On the way to Australia in 1988 we made a stop for a couple of days in Singapore. Unfortunately Edna loaded the camera wrong and none of the photos came out! The photo of the Ming Hotel (where we stayed) was taken by one of Edna's friends on 20th. May 1989 (we were there in May 1988) so the Guard is probably the same. Singapore is nice! I know all about the Human Rights problems but the fact is it's so clean and you would feel guilty dropping a fag end on the pavement (I smoked in those days). We had a Singapore Sling in Raffles (pity we don't have a photo!) but the most abiding memory is walking out of the Hotel at midnight and being blasted by the heat. What would they do without air conditioning?
