1998 Alykanas
Went with Direct Greece and had a very pleasant apartment
at Kalithea. Over the supermarket (very handy) and about 100 yards from
the nearest restaurant (see photo). On our 4th. night the owner of the
apartments laid on a Greek dinner cooked by his wife, daughter and sister.
A good turnout at a very reasonable cost - pity about the awful wine!
We were goiug to book for the following week's but, when the time came,
not enough of the new people were interested. A lazy holiday, did the
Island tour and went into Zakynthos Town for a day but apart from that....
The weather was surprisingly changeable. Wind, rain, sun - we had the
lot - but it didn't stop the mosquitos! Perhaps September is not the
time to go. Still, an excellent time was had.
2009 Tsilivi
See the photos.
We decided to book a late holiday to a Greek Island and this came out
tops for £218 each for a fortnight. Very good Hotel (the Zante
Star), cheap but comfortable and nicely situated for the village although
out of the centre. Didn't eat in the Hotel (music too noisy and they
only seemed to have 3 or 4 cds) but there were loads of places in the
village. Apart from Edna falling flat on her face, walking home along
the beach at night, and then spending a day in Zante Hospital because
Edna had a kidney stone we had a great time! Did the trip to Zakynthos
Town again and had a boat trip around the island, very picturesque,
but spent most of the time just wandering and lazing. Special mention
for the OLIVE GARDEN and TSLIVINI restaurants. It poured with rain on
two nights when we were out to dinner and both of them gave us a lift
back to the Hotel. And their food was good too!
