2012 Danube River Cruise

Another included coach tour. Excellent guide who took us to the fortress,

the statue of Pobednik (The Victor), built in 1928 to commemorate victories over the Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian Empires.

and a huge Church (unfinished) which we thought was in the style of St. Sophia in Istanbul.

Then to a large hotel where we had included refreshments then time for a browse around the Main Square.

Statue of Mihailo Obrenovic (Prince of Serbia) - The National Museum (behind) was closed for renovation

National Theatre

Serbians don't have too many good words to say about Milosevic now but.... We were shown damage done by the NATO bombing and, of course, were told that Serbia wasn't wholly to blame for the civil war. I'm pleased to see that, everywhere in former Yugoslavia that we went, people were pro-Yugoslavia (ie. Tito) and, therefore, tried to be tolerant to each other.
