1998/99 A cold and frosty start at 4 am on December 21st. We wouldn't do that now (2015)! Sister Ann and her husband, Michael, were already there when we arrived so we left our luggage in their room and went for a spot of lunch (chicken, chips and salad about £2.00!). Our Hotel was the Riu Waikiki in Playa del Ingles (excellent), good food and very good entertainment. Plenty of good restaurants locally for lunch (breakfast and dinner was included) and a nice area to stay. One nice place we visited (by local bus) was Puerto de Mogan. Lovely white buildings by the Harbour and well worth a visit. Went on a coach tour of the Island but the roads were so windy and up and down that Edna was unwell (she doesn't travel too well) so didn't take too much notice of what we did and saw. Next day Edna was still not well, trouble is it was New Year's Eve and there was a Gala Dinner (she picked at a few bits but what a waste). One difference between this Hotel and our previous New Year Hotels (on Tenerife), champagne was not included! An extra £16 a bottle (Spanish cava) so we weren't too pleased with that! Unfortunately the last few days were spoiled because Edna had obviously caught a chesty cold. Look on the bright side though, I bet she lost some weight because she hardly ate!

2015 on the Magellan Cruise. Took the open top bus for a tour around Las Palmas. What a waste of time that was! Our headphones didn't work and, even if they had, I'm sure the trip wasn't worth doing. We seemed to be criss crossing the same points and weren't over impressed by what we saw. Not to worry, Madeira tomorrow and that is nice!
