Greek Islands and Ephesus

Patmos

We booked a mini Cruise during our 1981 holiday in Athens, aboard the City of Mykonos. Loved the ship, the first time we had actually slept on board and it was beyond our expectations for such a short trip. Collected from our Hotel early in the morning and sailed for Mykonos. Arrived there at 6.30 PM and it was just what one imagines a Greek Island should be, all whitewash and narrow cobbled streets. Went ashore by tender and only had about an hour and a half there (there was a buffet on board at 9 and we didn't want to miss that!). Early to bed because we were woken at 6.15 the next morning for our coach trip on Patmos (we were already docked when we awoke). Up to the Monastery, which was very interesting, and also visited the cave where St. John wrote. Larger than we expected. Zoomed round and back on board at 10 for boat drill at 10.30. 2 PM and we're in another Country! Kusadasi in Turkey. Minibus trip to Ephesus which was fantastic but, again, we needed more time. Saw a pillar from the Temple of Diana (which is all that's left) but it was in the distance. No time! Display of Greek dancing on board after dinner (which was excellent, as were all the meals) and so to bed. Another early call coming up. Bit of a rough night, called at 6 AM and were actually back in our Hotel by 8.45! Great!
