Sadly, another of my favourites
(although I never saw him) dies. Why then one of my favourites? His
record "Wichita Lineman" contains the lines that, I consider,
are the two greatest:
"And I need you more than want you,
and I want you for all time"
Wow! I want you for all time BUT I NEED you more
than that. Wow!. Nearly 50 years ago this struck a chord and I have
never changed my opinion that these are the two greatest lines
in pop / country. Let me know if there are better (in your opinion).
There's been a lot of talk since his death that "Wichita Lineman"
was the greatest pop record of all time, I wouldn't go anywhere near
that far but it was a great record.
(Jimmy Webb wrote the song , of course, so he must be
credited with writing the two greatest lines of all time BUT, without
Glen's interpretation the song may have been lost).
