Listen to Hey Joe - (well, some of it) Timothy Alan Patrick
Rose Although Tim Rose is now probably better known for making "Hey Joe" before Hendrix I had never heard this and 'found' him through "Morning Dew" and "Come away Melinda", two very powerful records. Not the greatest singing voice but very effective and, I think, intense would be a great description of these two performances! Before the above (in 1963) Tim formed a trio with Mama Cass Elliot and Jim Hendricks (NOT Jimi Hendrix!) and called themselves The Big 3. They recorded an excellent, but less intense, version of "Come away Melinda" (with Cass on lead) and "Banjo song", a Tim Rose composition (with Tim on lead). I've just been reminded (March 2016) that Tim never left a will and the beneficiaries had to be found by a Company of "Heir Hunters". This search was featured on the BBC series "Heir Hunters" (what else) and they did track down his heirs. Sad but it made great television!
